The body panels use ROHACELL®, a rigid foam core material sandwiched between thin carbon fiber epoxy skins. The epoxy resin formulation based on VESTAMIN® hardener technology was optimized for VARI process. This design provides significant weight reduction and excellent bending stiffness.
Side- and rear windows are made from PLEXIGLAS®, leading to weight reduction of up to 50 percent compared to conventional glazing. Further, the excellent transparency as well as its outstanding weathering resistance, pleasant acoustic properties and outstanding formability open up entirely new design possibilities.
Weight reduced tires and ultra light rims were applied. Improved rolling resistance, wet handling and wet braking were achieved by implementing ULTRASIL® silicas and silanes like Si 69® or Si 363®.
With a VISCOPLEX™ viscosity modifier additive, excellent shear stability maintains oil quality through the service life and retains the oil film so necessary for good lubrication. Power loss in the transmission is minimized to ensure this vehicle can always operate to the design limits of it's performance envelope.
