Lithium-ion batteries benefit from our metal oxides in multiple ways: The thin ceramic coating on top of separators consists of fumed aluminum oxide (AEROXIDE® Alu 65) and it enhances the battery safety significantly. The battery’s performance and lifetime is increased by dry coating the cathode active materials with fumed aluminum oxide (AEROXIDE® Alu 130) or fumed titanium dioxide (AEROXIDE® TiO2 P 25)

Precipitated silica from Evonik like SIPERNAT®  is used as e.g., pore creator of PE separators for lead-acid batteries in cars.

The TEGO® Surten E product family covers a wide range of process aids for the efficient mass-production of lithium-ion battery materials. Regardless if it is for dispersing, wetting, flexing or defoaming, the TEGO® Surten E process enablers can make the LIB-production process more efficient and the resulting cells more effective.

VESTAKEEP® for high temperature resistant electric isolation of e-motor stator/rotor wires.

VESTAMID® with dedicated PA12 grades for extrusion, injection molding and powder coating, is Ideal for electrical isolation of high voltage, e.g., for power busbars in the high voltage bordnet and for EV battery. The compounds are fire protected over lifetime acc. UL94 VO, V2 or HB, are halogen-free and in RAL signal orange.

Up to 50% weight could be saved with VESTAMID® MLT cooling lines replacing metal or rubber solutions for battery cooling systems in hybrid or battery electric vehicles.

VESTAMID® provides good mechanical properties and impact resistance over a wide temperature range, it shows also good barrier properties against hydrogen permeation, e.g., in liners of hydrogen pressure tank type IV.
